   Common Issues

What do I do when my computer is locked up?
Try holding down the ctrl, alt, and delete keys simultaneously, for a second. Select any program that says "Not Responding" and click the End Task button. Repeat until all tasks are ended. If you are still having problems, then you need to shut down the system manually and wait a few minutes before you reboot. WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ANY UNSAVED INFORMATION IN ALL OPEN PROGRAMS WHEN SHUT DOWN MANUALLY.
Why doesn't the power button turn off my PC?
You need to press on the power button and hold it down for up to 10 seconds for your system to shut down.
What does an "Out of Memory" error mean?
There  are a couple of things that could be happening: You could have too many applications running, or you could have too many documents with lots of graphics open. First, acknowledge the error message then check the taskbar to see what applications are running. Close the applications that you aren't using. Second, if you don't have extra applications running, check the window menu of the application that is running to see what documents are open. Close the documents you aren't using (remember to save them first), and then try completing your task. If you still get the error, exit everything and reboot the machine.
Disk Error or Non-System Disk
You may have left a disk in the drive that the error is stemming from. Remove it and press any key on the keyboard to reboot the computer. If you don't have a disk or CD in any of the drives, and the message is accompanied by a winding noise, shut the system down, wait a few minutes, and then reboot it.
The icons on my screen are a different size. What happened?
Depending on what has been done to your computer, your screen resolution and/or color depth may have been changed. We generally set the screen resolution at 1024x768 or 800x600 with a color depth of 256 colors. If you need to change your settings, right click on your desktop and then click properties. Go to the settings tab and adjust accordingly.
My new NT system has an Administrator user name, what's the password?
New systems are shipped with a blank administrator password. Simply press the ''OK' button or the 'x' in the upper right hand corner to access Windows.
WARNING: BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR ADMINISTRATIVE PASSWORD IF OTHERS HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR PC.
Why can't I access the internet through my cable modem when the cable company says the cable modem is working?
You may have a cable modem sharing device. Try unplugging the power cable from this device and wait 30 seconds. Plug the power cable back in and then restart your computer. This may fix the problem.
